Grumpy Cat

I feel really bad for leaving my blog empty for ages. I'm going to redesign the whole look of it at some point! It's getting very old. I've been busy literally updating my portfolio with everything! - motion graphics, graphic design, etc. I've been doing sketches in my sketchbook but haven't got round to doing anything digital just yet. I had the chance to create a painting for one my work colleagues who left the company recently. It was nice to work away from the computer and to do some painting. Anyways she loved cats too much...especially grumpy cat...

Headless Naked Man

That is all...

TYPE

I've been experimenting more with graphic design lately. Typography is very interesting. It's crazy how people make a whole font...takes a lot of work! I've been making pages for a fashion magazine which are on my webby site. These are just some doodles I was experimenting with as many fashion brands use loose, sketchy type.

Tom Hardy Digital Painting

I gave up on traditionally painting Tom Hardy so I used him to practice digital painting. I need to work on clothing and hair. Very hard to do!

A Pig, Cow, Sheep & Chicken!

This is me attempting to create child- like characters! I love the traditional water colour look in some children's books. Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers is a lovely one.
I thought I would have a go painting with my gouache paints. Only problem was - my scanner made everything look horrible! I tidied up everything in Photoshop but they look so much nicer on paper.

Farm Animal Sketches

I've been reading a few blogs lately about ways to improve drawing. Apparently you can become an expert in any field with 10,000 hours of practice. I dunno about that! I'm sure you have to have a flair for the subject matter. Reading all these blogs just made me want to constantly draw....non-stop.
Anyways I began some practice with some sketches of animals.

I'm slightly Tom Hardy obsessed...

I thought as my traditional portrait of him went a little wrong...I would practice to paint Tom Hardy digitally. I made some new brushes which I love! I fiddled with a load of the settings on Photoshop which really helped. I kinda have too many to choose from now. My digital paintings always seem to come out too smooth and never enough texture - this is something that I really wanted to work on. I downloaded some free oil textures to experiment with. It's coming a long so far...only thing is....it's going to take so long to finish! If only I had a cintiq...
